Being pregnant has taught me a lot about myself. Even though my situation isn't ideal, and may even be frowned upon by some, I stand by my decision to keep my baby. For most of the pregnancy, I lived in shame. I was embarrassed to be pregnant and unmarried. Even though I loved my baby's father, he didn't want anything to do with us.
Through the months, I been feeling something tugging at my heart and soul. I been finding myself slowly reconnecting with God, and I been wrestling with going back to Church. This week, I found myself ready to return. Unfortunately, I wasn't sure where to start because I am pregnant, unwed, and I know a lot of Churches frown upon that. I wanted to return to Church because my unborn son and I need a fresh start. I don't want him born into chaos. I want him to be born into love.
A friend of mine told me about a Church that is 10 mins from my home, and this morning, I went. Walking in, I was nervous. I was immediately greeted by greeter and the pastor. They made me feel so welcomed. After service started, a woman came in and sat in front of me. She immediately connected with me. She and I briefly spoke and she told me that there are several single moms in the Church and there is even a program for women who are pregnant and don't have the support of the baby's father. Along with the kindness I encountered at this Church, and hearing about the program, I was sold. I was exactly where God wanted me to be. The pastor's sermon was pretty amazing and the music was incredible. Afterward, I was introduced to a TON of people, and I stayed for lunch.
I literally lucked out with this Church. Finding a Church home that is welcoming to all walks of life, including single moms, is almost unheard of. No one in that congregation was fake. I saw guys with tattoos, people with multi-colored hair, single moms, LGBT people, and more. All walks of life that have come together to worship without judgment...it was pretty awesome. Tomorrow night, I'm going to the program for single moms (to be), and Thursday I plan on going to Bible study. I've never been this led to completely embrace Church before. Not to mention, my unborn son was kicking away during the sermon and the music. Even he gave his seal of approval, LOL!
Coming to this point in my life was a slow process, but it's a process that needed to happen. My unborn son and I have been through a lot, and we deserve a fresh start. I don't know what the future holds for my son and I, but I know that God has us both in the palm of His Hand. I truly am grateful to have found an amazing Church family.

The world is still buzzing about the closing of both Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us. For the older generations, Toys 'R' Us was a staple of childhood: going into the store, soaking in all of the toys and games, it was a mecca for a child's creativity. Times though, they have changed.
Many of today's children have been spending their downtime watching TV, playing on mom and dad's phone, tablet, computer, etc, and playing video games. This has made experts wonder if the advances in technology may be to blame for Toys' downfall. Has a child's dependency on electronics completely taken over a child's ability to play with Legos, trains, tea sets, and other creative toys?
Parenting expert Dr. Amy Alamar is on the fence about that, but she does believe that today's generation lacks the interpersonal skills that previous generations have.
"I would imagine we have yet to see the ramifications of that. We don’t know. But one thing we have seen is that kids aren’t developing interpersonal skills the way they used to. They really are losing skills like looking people in the eye, having a conversation, and that will affect their intimate relationships."
Dr. Alamar did mention that incorporating creative play at an early age can help your child develop creativity, physical skills, and cognitive ability. When it comes to both digital activities and creative play, she said that balance is key.
When it comes to Toys 'R' Us closing, I am sure that the increased dependence on technology had some part in it, but I don't think it is the culprit.
Do you think the increased dependency on electronics may be to blame for the downfall of Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us? Let me know in the comments below.
Throughout everything he put her through: the lying, the betrayal, and the games, she never stopped loving him.
Eight months ago, something unimaginable happened. Sara found out that she was carrying a life inside her, a life that she and the man she once loved created together. Turns out, the man she loved lied to her about everything. Sara spent her entire pregnancy alone, dealing with complications, going to appointments alone, and handling close calls. It still haunted her how things went down between her and her former love. Her life, and the life of her unborn child was threatened by people she did not know, but were involved in her former love's life. The man who helped her create this life got engaged to another. Along with dealing with her unborn child's absentee father, she began nursing her heartbreak.
As time ticked on, Sara felt herself becoming more authentic with what she was thinking and feeling. Throughout everything he put her through: the lying, the betrayal, and the games, she never stopped loving him. Part of her hoped that one day he would return to her, apologizing for everything he put her through, wanting to make amends. The other part of her wanted to make changes in her life in order to move on. Now weeks away from delivering her son, Sara decided to focus on being the best mother for her son. She knew, in time, her heart would heal and that she would be ready to find love again. Until then, she has all the love she needed in her life, with God by her side. While she never stopped loving her baby's father, it wasn't enough to pine for him for the rest of her life.
As Sara looked to the sky, she folded her hands to her chest, asking God to heal her wounded heart. A sense of healing enveloped her. From this moment on, she walked with a Higher Purpose. No matter what would happen to her and her baby boy, she was protected by the Heavenly Father.
Happy birthday to the most respected man in WWE history, The Undertaker. He turns 53 today.
The Undertaker has captivated audiences for over 3 decades, with his wrestling career beginning in 1984 as a part of World Class Championship Wrestling. Following his stint in the (WCCW), he switched gears and began wrestling under the name "Mean Mark Callous" from 1989 to 1990. Shortly afterward, he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE).
It was here in the WWE where a legend was born. His gothic persona enchanted audiences, as each time his entrance music came on, you could hear the collective masses hold their breath as the legend walked toward the squared circle. The Undertaker joined forces with his on-screen brother Kane and tore the roof off of the tag team division in the 1990s.
The Undertaker went through a bit of a makeover in the early 2000s, becoming more of a biker than a goth. In 2004, he went back to his iconic gothic ways, and those ways stayed with him up to present day.
The last time we saw the "soul of the WWE" was on the 25th anniversary of WWE Raw in January 2018. It was then he gave a rather cryptic speech, which made fans wonder if the deadman will rise again. John Cena certainly hopes so, as he has been calling out The Undertaker to compete against him at WrestleMania 34.
The last time we saw The Undertaker in competition was in 2017, when Roman Reigns defeated the deadman. We saw the deadman leave his coat and hat in the ring, kiss his wife (former WWE Diva's champ Michelle McCool), and leave the arena.
Happy birthday, Taker! You are the greatest performer in the history of wrestling. Not to mention, you're my all-time favorite male wrestler. Whether we see you at WrestleMania 34 or not in a few weeks, you are still the most respected legend in this sport. You are a future Hall of Famer, and an all around American Bad A**.
I salute you!
Wanted: a weather forecasting groundhog who deceived the masses with his forecasting.
The Monroe County Sheriff's office in PA is issuing a warrant for the groundhog's arrest after a spring snowstorm brought snow to the Northeast this past Wednesday and Thursday. Back in February, the famed groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter. That forecast expired over a week ago, which prompted the warrant for Phil's arrest.
Groundhog Day forecasting has been in use since 1887, with Phil predicting 103 prolonged winters, and 18 early springs.
If you're in Monroe County, be on the lookout for Phil the groundhog. He has brown and grey hair, sharp teeth, and brown eyes.
If you're like me and expecting your first child this year, you're probably thinking about what type of practices you want to utilize in caring for your son or daughter.
You've probably heard of the practice of swaddling your baby. Your friends probably use swaddling to help soothe their babies as they sleep peacefully in their crib. You're probably wondering about what swaddling is, and if it can be a benefit to your upcoming bundle of joy.
What is Swaddling?
Swaddling is a practice where you snugly wrap your infant in a blanket in order to restrict movement.
This practice has been used the world over since biblical times.
Benefits of Swaddling
There are risks associated with swaddling your baby:
It is important to weigh all the benefits and risks before beginning the practice of swaddling. If you're baby is going to be born in the warmer months, I recommend not swaddling them in a flannel blanket. If you plan on swaddling, use breathable cotton blankets.
Definitely talk to your doctor about the proper way to swaddle your baby. Also, many birthing/parenting classes can teach you the safe way to swaddle baby. If you cannot make it to parenting classes, nurses at the hospital can teach you how to swaddle.
Also, once your baby is here, if you see that he or she isn't a fan of the swaddling, definitely discontinue the practice.
Ever go on Instagram to see what your friends, family, and your favorite celebrities are up to right now, only to be met with posts from a few days ago? It's annoying, am I right?
Well Instagram has been keeping track of the issue, and will be making some changes to make your scrolling experience a positive one.
Instagram released the following statement:
"With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about. Based on your feedback, we’re also making changes to ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed. We're working every day to improve your Instagram feed—with your feedback top of mind! We want to start talking more about what we're changing and why. Today is our first step, focused on making the feed fresher, with newer posts closer to the top."
Instagram also stated that if you want to see new posts, you will be able to push a "New Posts" button at the top of your newsfeed.
In June 2016, Instagram made changes to the newsfeed, switching from a reverse chronological feed to a feed that is relevancy-sorted feed. This angered many Instagrammers.
My Two Cents
I'm pretty sure people will be a lot more inclined to use Instagram now that this algorithm will be fixed. A lot of people will want a reprieve from the political mess happening over at Facebook.
Readers: What do you think about the changes? Will they make your Instagram experience a more pleasurable one? Let me know in the comments below.
Toys 'R' Us will begin liquidation sales at most of its locations Thursday. The liquidation sales are expected to wrap up in 14 weeks in all locations across the United States (though some stores may close earlier if they run out of inventory).
It was reported this month that all Toys 'R' Us and Babies 'R' Us locations will be closing after failing to find a buyer. Toys 'R' Us is being met with a lot of criticism from its vendors for how it is handling the 'winding down' of operations.
The closing of all US stores will result in 33,000 layoffs.
As for their online stores, those will remain up for a short period of time, as the company is looking to find a buyer for the online store. Those of you who have gift cards and reward points, you have less than 4 weeks to redeem them.
With these sales, they will be starting off with small percentages off (10%, 20%, 30%, etc). As time goes by, they will be raising their percentages off of items (40%, 50%, and so on).
As a soon-to-be mom, I will be taking advantage of the sales at Babies 'R' Us since it's getting to be too late for me to have a baby shower.
I want to give advice to any of you who will be shopping these sales: Be kind and courteous to the employees. These men and women will be losing their jobs in a short period of time. Think about things from their perspective.
If any of my readers are "Toys" or "Babies" employees, I just want to say thank you for all your hard work, and I wish you so much luck and prosperity in the future. Don't give up. Keep fighting.
In the 1990s, there were two types of people: Team NSYNC and Team BSB. Well, one of those boy bands is about to get their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The boys of NSYNC are going to be honored with the 2,636th star at 7080 Hollywood Blvd, near corner of Lebrea. If the news is "Tearin up your heart," you're not alone. Many people, women especially, are still jumping up and down at the news. The excitement is so big, people are about ready to "Pop!"
The boys will all be there, not only celebrating this momentous occasion, but also celebrating their 20th anniversary as a boy band.
So when will this ceremony take place? You can watch your teen crushes receive the honor on Monday, April 30 at 11:30am PST.
For the love of all that is holy in the world of NSYNC, please move the ceremony date to May 1st, so we can all say: "It's Gonna be Maaayyyy.."
Here's a throwback to their first huge hit: "Tearin Up My Heart." OMG, Justin! *Squee!* Suddenly, I feel like I'm 16 again. Man I can't believe this song came out when I was 16, LOL! Who else feels wicked old?!
