Happy birthday to the most respected man in WWE history, The Undertaker. He turns 53 today.
The Undertaker has captivated audiences for over 3 decades, with his wrestling career beginning in 1984 as a part of World Class Championship Wrestling. Following his stint in the (WCCW), he switched gears and began wrestling under the name "Mean Mark Callous" from 1989 to 1990. Shortly afterward, he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE).
It was here in the WWE where a legend was born. His gothic persona enchanted audiences, as each time his entrance music came on, you could hear the collective masses hold their breath as the legend walked toward the squared circle. The Undertaker joined forces with his on-screen brother Kane and tore the roof off of the tag team division in the 1990s.
The Undertaker went through a bit of a makeover in the early 2000s, becoming more of a biker than a goth. In 2004, he went back to his iconic gothic ways, and those ways stayed with him up to present day.
The last time we saw the "soul of the WWE" was on the 25th anniversary of WWE Raw in January 2018. It was then he gave a rather cryptic speech, which made fans wonder if the deadman will rise again. John Cena certainly hopes so, as he has been calling out The Undertaker to compete against him at WrestleMania 34.
The last time we saw The Undertaker in competition was in 2017, when Roman Reigns defeated the deadman. We saw the deadman leave his coat and hat in the ring, kiss his wife (former WWE Diva's champ Michelle McCool), and leave the arena.
Happy birthday, Taker! You are the greatest performer in the history of wrestling. Not to mention, you're my all-time favorite male wrestler. Whether we see you at WrestleMania 34 or not in a few weeks, you are still the most respected legend in this sport. You are a future Hall of Famer, and an all around American Bad A**.
I salute you!
