La Croix hit with class action lawsuit after insecticide was found in beverage.

Looks like La Croix is in some deep trouble. The popular company tested positive for many artificial ingredients. The one ingredient found that has people upset is linalool, which can also be found in cockroach insecticide.
The lawsuit, filed by Beaumont Costales on behalf of Lenora Rice, said:
"The plaintiff Rice, desiring a healthy, natural beverage, was led to purchase LaCroix sparkling water because of the claims made on its packaging, advertising and web site to be ‘innocent’ … However, LaCroix in fact contains ingredients that have been identified by the Food and Drug Administration as synthetic. These chemicals include … linalool propionate, which is used to treat cancer; and linalool, which is used in cockroach insecticide."

National Beverage Corp, the company that owns La Croix, disputed the lawsuit, saying that the suit was filed "without basis in fact or law regarding the natural composition of its LaCroix sparkling waters."

Should we all stop drinking La Croix because of the ingredient? According to PubChem, Linalool is also found in spice plants, cinnamon and laurels. They said that the only documented effects of linalool on human consisted of eye irritation and mild skin irritation.

Experts assure that La Croix is safe for consumers.
"It is very unlikely these naturally occurring substances pose a health risk when consumed at levels usually found in foods. If there were a health risk, then citrus juices and spices, such as curry, would not be consumed or be part of the commodity market."
