A Massachusetts professor is under fire for a threatening comment he made to his class at Northeastern University about US President Donald Trump:
"Sometimes I want to just see him impeached other times quite honestly - I hope there are no FBI agents here - I wouldn't mind seeing him dead."
Someone took video of this lecture and uploaded it to YouTube. It quickly went viral and people criticized the professor for the comment.
Northeastern quickly released a statement in response of the backlash:
"The university and its leaders steadfastly oppose violence in all its forms. While faculty members are free to express controversial opinions, the university cannot provide a public platform for comments that could be construed to condone violence. As a result, we have decided to take down the video of this event."
The video was subsequently removed. The professor, Barry Bluestone, later apologized for his comments.
My Two Cents
These comments about Trump aren't unheard of. A lot of people have these feelings about him. Unfortunately, making these comments in public, and in a school no less, is classless and inappropriate.
Not only that, wishing death on someone is just bad karma. While I myself am not a fan of Trump, I would never wish him harm or death. I believe God will judge all of us in the end, by our good deeds and bad. His judgement is the only one that counts in this world.
This professor crossed a line when he said he wouldn't mind seeing him dead. To be honest, I think he should be investigated.
Like it or not, Trump is the US President, and any comment about him being harmed should be investigated by the authorities.
