Despite all the backlash the new BTVS reboot is getting, the show is gaining the approval of a few of the OGs. David Boreanaz was the first to express his approval of the show. Now Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has provided her blessing for the reboot.
"At the end of the day, it’s all about great storytelling. If a story lives on, then I think it should be told in any incarnation it can be told in."
Hours before Gellar spoke about the reboot to EW, her former co-star and fictional soulmate David Boreanaz spoke about the reboot. He was met with resounding booing when the reboot came up in conversation.
Boreanaz had this to say about the controversy:
"Come on, guys. It’s a good thing. Let’s just embrace [it]. I’m very happy for them. They want to embrace a new generation, something new. … I’m all for it. I think it’s fantastic. Good for them. I hope that it becomes huge and successful."
In her interview, Gellar told the audience that she agrees with Boreanaz's sentiments.
My Two Cents
If the reboot is getting a 'thumbs up' from Buffy and Angel, you gotta jump on board with them. I, for one, cannot wait to see the reboot. I religiously watched Buffy every week from the series premiere to the series finale. It was a way of life for me. Even after the show ended, I read fan fiction and bought the comic books. That's how big of a fan I have been about the BTVS franchise.
I'm happy that the current generation will have their own hero slayer to look up to. <3
