The Hall of Fame just went country with the latest inductee: Hillbilly Jim!
Hillbilly Jim debuted in the mid-1980s, when he helped Hulk Hogan against Ken Patera, Big John Studd, and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. When he saw the Hulkster in trouble, he jumped over the barricade and assisted. Hulk Hogan was impressed and decided to train the newcomer.
Hillbilly Jim was a natural in the ring. While his attire (overalls and a large horseshoe necklace) was much different than his fellow wrestlers, it did not stop him from using his signature bear hug to beat his opponents into submission.
He was a fan favorite in the ring and a submission specialist. It's no surprise that he is joining the likes of Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory, Jeff Jarrett, and Warrior award recipient Jarrius "JJ" Robertson in this year's Hall of Fame class.
Congratulations to Hillbilly Jim! This is a long overdue and well-deserved honor.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on April 6, 2018 during WrestleMania week.
