When we reach a certain age, we begin to notice those around us getting married and having children. It is then that we realize that we are alone. It is as if we are on the outside of life looking in. We begin to wonder if we have entered an alternate universe, where everyone is paired off like Noah’s Ark. We begin to have that sinking feeling of loneliness. We long to be a part of Noah’s Ark. We start dating around, hoping that one of these guys will be our other half. Sadly, none of these guys fit perfectly into our lives. We begin to wonder if we will ever find our happily ever after.
Still, we continue our search. We feel that it is better to date around than to be alone. Without dating around, we end up analyzing our relationship status, and fall deeper into sadness. We would rather date the wrong element, than to spend time alone and working on ourselves. One thing that we fail to realize is, being single does not mean you should feel lonely. Being single is an important rite of passage. During that time, we can grow as an individual. We can move forward in our careers, be there for our family members, be that shoulder for your friends to lean on. We can also enjoy various activities, such as yoga and art classes. We can all live fulfilling lives, without romance. When it comes to love, it happens when we least expect it. Also, it happens at a time in our lives when we have come into our own as an individual. You must love and respect yourself before someone can love and respect you. Below, I have put a link to a book that helped me during tough times. It's called "On My Own: The Art of Being a Woman Alone," by Florence Falk. I know it will help you.
