What a time to be alive! The first ever image of a supermassive black hole in galaxy Messier 87 (M87) is currently breaking the internet.
The lucky shot was taken by the Event Horizon Telescope, and is currently being called a "breakthrough." The image is going to help scientists learn as much as they can about black holes. NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory has a much wider pic of the black hole, both of which will be analyzed. The black hole sits in the middle of M87, an elliptical galaxy in the Virgo galaxy cluster. The galaxy is 60 million light years from Earth. My Two Cents I'm a bit of an astronomy geek, and I love when things like this come out. I just needed to share it with you all because I think it is pretty amazing. What do you think about this image? Let me know in the comments below.
