Last night, the 3 hour (part one) finale of The Bachelor aired, and it was one for the history books!
We've been getting snippets of what went down between Arie, Becca, and Lauren. Now, we are getting the controversial truth. Before the episode aired, Chris Harrison dubbed him the most controversial Bachelor in history. Meeting Arie's parents in Peru: Becca and Lauren prepare to meet Arie's parents, who flew into Peru to meet the loves of Arie's life. Arie talks about loving both Becca and Lauren, and being torn between the two. He confides in his family for advice. Lauren meets Arie's parents: Lauren admits being nervous before she meets his family. Lauren sits down with Arie's father, and he asks if she has doubts. She expresses fear of the relationship not working out due to a previous engagement. She tells him that Arie has reassured her about how he feels about her. Arie tells his family that constantly reassuring her bothers him. Arie's mother wants to know if she is in this for the "long haul." She tells her that she's very in love with him, but that it's hard because of his relationship with Becca. Lauren expressed that she feels relaxed with his family. His family likes her. Becca meets Arie's parents: Becca feels uncomfortable because Lauren is still around, and Arie reassures her that he loves her. Arie's mother sits down with Becca and asks if she wants to be engaged to him. She says that she feels it with him and that she trusts him. Arie and his mother sit down and talk. She said that she is also torn between Lauren and Becca. Becca and Arie's father sit down and talk. He tells her that he would be happy if Arie picked either one of them. That made Becca uncomfortable. His entire family brought up Lauren, which made Becca even more uncomfortable. Arie and his family talk about meeting Lauren and Becca. Arie's mother said that Becca would be better for his future. Arie's father recommends Becca as well. Caroline joins Chris Harrison and they talk about what she said to Arie at the "Tell All." She said it's hard to watch him "toy" with both girls. Arie's date with Lauren: Arie and Lauren go to Machu Picchu. They take a private train and talk about the journey they've had together. Later that evening, they get together and she tells him how much she loves him and why. She tells him that she is not scared and that she's ready to spend the rest of her life with him. She tells him that she is terrified of losing him. Chris Harrison is joined by Bekah M and Sienne. He asks them what they think about the finale so far. Sienne says that she thinks Arie is disappointed that his family leaned toward Becca and not Lauren. Bekah thinks that if Arie is this conflicted, then he shouldn't be proposing to anyone (Preach my sister!). Arie's date with Becca: She says that she sees a future with Arie, but is conflicted about Lauren. Arie says that he feels confident with Becca. They sightsee through Cusco, Peru and pet llamas. They sit down and talk about their week. Arie admits that going into the date with Becca, he was thinking about Lauren, but now he is conflicted. That night, Becca and Arie meet up and Becca tells Arie that she's been in her head a lot this week. She asks him if he has reservations. He tells her he keeps going back and forth, and he can't describe it. She tells him that she is confident in them, but she is uncomfortable with the fact that Lauren is so different from her. Becca gives him a book, chronicling their journey together. Chris Harrison talks to Ben Higgins and Jason Mesnick. Chris brings up Ben's dilemma on his season. He advises that he owns up to the fact that he said I love you to two women. Chris turned to Jason and asked him what his advice is. Jason says to be himself. The Last Day: Arie discusses the difficult decision ahead of him. Becca feels uncertain about Arie's feelings, especially when it comes to Lauren. Lauren talks about the proposal she feels both excited and scared. The scene is set in the Peruvian countryside. Lauren gets out of the car and makes her way toward Chris. Chris walks her to Arie. Lauren hugs Arie and she tells him how much he's changed her. He tells Lauren that he can't go through with it, and he can't explain it. She wishes him the best and they hug. Lauren feels betrayed and blindsided. She wonders how he can get down on one knee if he wasn't sure who he wanted until that morning (excellent question). After sending Lauren home, he composes himself and gets ready to see Becca. Becca tells Arie that she has been in awe of him since the very beginning. She says that she feels so comfortable with him. Arie tells her that he feels that they are a team and he feels lucky to be with her. He tells her that his love for her is unmeasurable. He gets down on one knee and proposes. She accepts. The first unedited scene in Bachelor/Reality TV history: In the days and weeks that followed, they spend time together: cooking, laughing, playing chess, etc. Then, Arie says that he has been thinking about Lauren. Arie tells the camera that the feelings never went away. Arie decides to call off the engagement with Becca and go back to Lauren. Arie meets up with Becca. She says his presence makes him nervous. He talks about his struggles and how he's been trying to sort his feelings out. He tells Becca he's been thinking about Lauren. He tells Becca he wants to see if there's a possibility with Lauren. Understandably, Becca is upset. She tells him to go and he won't go (dude, you broke her heart, give her some space. Kick rocks!). Becca sits down with Chris Harrison and they discuss what happened. She says watching it all back is brutal. Chris tells her that she will be seeing him and Lauren again, tomorrow. My Two Cents That was the most brutal breakup I've seen on reality tv. Arie royally screwed up. If he was unsure about who he wanted, he should have NEVER gotten engaged. I hope Becca is the next Bachelorette. She deserves so much happiness after the hell he put her through. Becca, you have an army of millions of Bachelor Nation fans behind you. We got your back, girl!
