If you're a Gen-Xer like me, you probably enjoyed The Karate Kid and its sequels in real time (1980s).
You were probably dealing with feelings of glee and skepticism when you found out that Cobra Kai was being created. Thankfully, Cobra Kai has not disappointed us. The show has introduced an entirely new generation to what is now a classic story. Seeing Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles has been quite trippy. I have appreciated learning the backstory to Johnny Lawrence, and I'm happy to see where his character has gone in this series.
During season one we met the next generation of karate kids, and we saw the rebirth of Cobra Kai. In season two, we saw the return of Sensei Kreese (this return was so creepy for me).
I've also been enjoying the 80s references, and then feeling old when the younger characters become confused.
Cobra Kai has exploded in popularity, with Gen-Xers, Millennials, and beyond enjoying the storylines.
It was announced Thursday that Cobia Kai was renewed for a 3rd season. That's right, the story will continue in 2020.
Not only that, YouTube is going to be making ALL their shows free starting in September 2019. So, if you been dying to see Cobra Kai (and you don't want to pay the subscription to enjoy just one show), you will have your chance!
Pat Morita would be so proud of this show. We miss you, Pat! <3
