Sights of Connecticut: Beauty and Charm
If you have ever lived in eastern Connecticut, you may have heard of Connecticut Golfland. For 50 years, CT Golfland on Route 83 in Vernon, CT was THE PLACE to be. The family entertainment complex had mini-golf, go-karts, a ton of arcade games, and more!
It was a sad day when CT Golfland closed in 2014. It was like the end of childhood for many who spent their childhood weekends at Golfland.
It's been over six years since Golfland closed down, but it looks like the beloved family entertainment center is making an epic comeback!
Over the summer, paperwork was submitted to Vernon in an attempt to bring CT Golfland back. Recently, CT Golf Land LLC began demolition work. The old clubhouse was demolished, and in its place will be a completely revamped clubhouse.
A rendering of the clubhouse features a lot of activity options and a much larger clubhouse.
There is no word on when CT Golfland will (re)open.
I practically grew up at CT Golfland. Every weekend, I would go there with my dad and I would play all the arcade games, try to beat him at Skeeball, play mini golf, and I went on the go-karts almost every time I was there. We then walked over to Subway for lunch.
I remember when I finally beat my dad at Skeeball and when I achieved a high score on Dance Dance Revolution. Such good times! I visited the arcade long after I graduated high school and college. When they closed in 2014, it felt like my childhood had died. I was hoping that I could bring my future kids to CT Golfland.
Now that I'm a mom, I am super excited that I will have the opportunity to bring my son to CT Golfland. I can't wait until it opens!
Dave and Busters has NOTHING on CT Golfland!
