Amy Coney Barrett once made a ruling that "calling a Black employee the N word does NOT make for a hostile work environment."
In the midst of her confirmation hearing, Amy Coney Barrett's 'sins of the past' are catching up to her. In 2019, she ruled in a discrimination case that use of the N word in the workplace had not "created a hostile or abusive working environment."
She did say that dropping the N word was abhorrent behavior, but she decided that there wasn't a strong enough case of racism, despite the fact that someone was called the N word.
"The n-word is an egregious racial epithet. That said, Smith can't win simply by proving that the word was uttered. He must also demonstrate that Colbert's use of this word altered the conditions of his employment and created a hostile or abusive working environment."
Barrett is the adopted mother of two beautiful black children. Every single person of color has been called a racial slur. Just because her adopted children are being raised in a white family, it does not omit them from the same prejudices that everyone else goes through. They will undoubtedly be called the N word in school, and the workplace. When that happens, how is Amy Coney Barrett going to react? "Oh, it's not a hostile enough situation, kids. It's not a big deal." It IS a big deal. One that she has the power to stop. She doesn't stop it because she is a racist.
Just because a white family adopts a child of color into their family, it does NOT mean that you know everything about racism. If you aren't 100% white, you are a person of color. You get called names. Amy Coney Barrett needs to educate herself on the history of racism. I also need to add that every person of color has been racially profiled. That is a reality that Amy Coney Barrett needs to understand.
My younger brother is half Puerto Rican (we have different fathers). He's been called the S word. I'm not 100% white myself. I have African DNA, as well as Portuguese/Spanish DNA. When you are not 100% white in Trump's America, you are a target.
When it comes to racism, if you bury your head in the sand, you are making the problem worse. Amy Coney Barrett is ignorant to the topic of racism, and that WILL NOT help her two children of color navigate this world.
Does Amy Coney Barrett know anything about African-American culture? Readers, please don't come at me with "She probably doesn't see color." That's the fucking problem! When you claim to NOT SEE COLOR, you are ignoring the hundreds of years, thousands of years people of color have been kept down. You are ignoring black women and black children being sold, beaten, and raped. You are ignoring black men who were whipped and used as slaves. Don't ignore history, folks. Get woke quick!
Amy Coney Barrett is the absolute WORST person to succeed Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Amy Coney Barrett supports EVERYTHING that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is against. She cannot become our Supreme Court Justice!
