If you're not a fan of Megan Thee Stallion, you are about to be!
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion made her debut on Saturday Night Live, and it was a powerful one! While she performed her hit single "Savage," Megan Thee Stallion abruptly stopped the performance. Sounds of gunshots filled the atmosphere, and the screen behind her darkened. A moment later, a part of Malcolm X's speech from 1962 flashed on the screen: "The most disrespected, unprotected, neglected person in America is the Black woman. Who taught you to hate the texture of your hair, the color of your skin, the shape of your nose? Who taught you to hate from the top of your head to the soles of your feet?" Following the excerpt was audio of activist Tamika Mallory's speech at a news conference with slain Breonna Taylor's family (the conference took place last month). The conference was a clapback to AG Daniel Cameron's announcement that Taylor's MURDERERS will not be changed in Taylor's MURDER. As we all know, Breonna Taylor was gunned down while she slept. The police broke into her home with no warrant, and just shot her for being black in Trump's America. The message that played during Megan Thee Stallion's paused performance was this: "Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout negroes that sold our people into slavery." Megan Thee Stallion added onto that quote with: "We need to protect our Black women and love our Black women. Because, at the end of the day, we need our Black women. We need to protect our Black men and stand up for our Black men. Because, at the end of the day, we’re tired of seeing hashtags of our Black men."
The performance was incredibly powerful and I loved every second of it. I think she did a beautiful job. Let's hope AG Sellout Cameron gets his lips removed from grand wizard Trump's ass and realizes what the fuck he has done.
Breonna Taylor deserves justice. Her family deserves justice. Taylor's murderers deserve to be on death row for what they've done!
