![]() We are in the midst of a second wave of coronavirus, and the second wave is predicted to be worse than the first wave. Many in the Church community have thumbed their nose at all of the CDC guidelines, stating that the guidelines are a violation of their rights (These people fail to realize that it is a violation of ALL of our rights to be exposed to covid). The Christian Medical and Dental Association made a plea with non-conforming Churches to switch to virtual services until the surge is over. The association even called out Christians who refuse to adhere to the guidelines, saying: Christians "appear to care only about individual freedoms, and they don't care that they may be contributing to others getting this illness." The statement also called these Christians "selfish." The association is very concerned about asymptomatic individuals spreading the virus to vulnerable people (elderly, immuno-compromised, those who are pregnant, etc). Multiple Churches around America have violated the rules, and some have even filed lawsuits. The lawsuits claim that limiting in-person gatherings violate their religious rights (again, these rogue Churches fail to realize that it is a violation of ALL OUR RIGHTS to be exposed to covid). White evangelical Christians and Churches are the ones that have ignored the rules since covid became an issue in this country. This same group is also against all covid 19 vaccinations. While the association has expressed their desire for Churches to adhere to the CDC guidance, they know that these ultra conservative Churches will still do what they've always done: hold in-person services at full capacity, sans masks. You can't fix stupid. Those conservative Christians only care about themselves, and the Churches only care about making money. There is no money in virtual services. It sort of comes down to politics: most of these conservatives follow Donald Trump around like he's God. Trump doesn't wear a mask, Trump doesn't take covid seriously, why should they? Additionally, why should they care about protecting their neighbor? It's not like it's in the Bible or anything....right? GUYS! Am I the only person who paid attention to the teachings of Jesus Christ? Jesus cared for the sick and lame. He was modest, and he loved people deeply. There was nothing he wouldn't do for someone in need. I know some of you conservatives will say: "I help out at soup kitchens, I take care of my mom, I give to charity." That's great, Karen. However, have you ever considered, for even a second, that wearing a mask is how you can care for the humans around you? You could be asymptomatic, and you could pass the virus onto your mom, your spouse, your child, your co-worker, the young girl ringing up your groceries at the grocery store, even your pet! To err on the side of caution, wear the mask and social distance. THIS is how you can be Christ-like and love others as yourself.
CHURCHES! I know some of you have boasted about not having confirmed cases of covid in your congregation (I'm looking at you River of Life in Tolland CT). Do you honestly think conservative Christians will come out their mouth and say that they have the virus? No. They will think if they step inside Church and people lay hands on them, they will be instantaneously cured. Also, just because you don't have confirmed cases, does not mean you don't have asymptomatic cases in your congregation. Look, I know I will get comments about me being a faithless bitch. I'm ready! Show me what you got! Listen, God made everything, right? Included in everything is science. Science and healers go hand-in-hand, especially when it comes to finding treatment, vaccines, and cures for global pandemics. Thumbing your nose at science is basically YOU thumbing YOUR nose at God. It's up to you as to what type of "Christian" you want to be. Idk about you, but the Christ-like Christianity sounds pretty nice to me. Just remember, if you aren't loving your neighbor as yourself, you are breaking God's most important commandment of all. Get your heads out of your asses! Social distance and wear a mask!
