![]() Ahead of the season 3 premiere, Netflix has renewed 'Cobra Kai' for a 4th season. The show became an instant hit after moving from YouTube to Netflix this year. Shortly after arriving on Netflix, the show found its way into the Nielsen's weekly top 10 streaming ratings, ranking at #2 during the week of August 24. 'Cobra Kai' was trending for several days on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and more. 'Cobra Kai' picks up 34 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, where Daniel LaRusso kicked Johnny Lawrence's cocky ass (taking his dream girl was an added bonus). The rivalry reignites when Johnny and Daniel come face-to-face 30+ years later. If you haven't seen the show because you're skeptical of sequels, don't be. The writers, producers, directors, and actors did a flawless job bringing this story and the characters back to life. I did cry when Daniel visited Mr. Miyagi's grave, and I cried when Johnny Lawrence's friend died (I believe the actor that played the friend died sometime after filming). If you are wondering if John Kreese makes an appearance, indeed he does! You won't see him until the last episode of season one. He becomes involved in a decent storyline in season two. As the show goes on, we do see a lot more of a human side to Johnny Lawrence. We learn a lot about his early days, and how it molded him into the bully he was back in the Karate Kid movies. I could wax on (and wax off) all day about 'Cobra Kai.' It's best that you watch it for yourself. Catch the first two seasons of 'Cobra Kai' on Netflix. Season 3 drops on January 8, 2021! Pat Morita would have LOVED this show.
