"Let's have a trial by combat." Those are the words Rudy Giuliani snatched from Game of Thrones, and used to help incite a deadly riot at our Capital. DRIPiani told a White House reporter last week that the quote, and the character who said it, inspired him. "I was referencing the kind of trial that took place for Tyrion in that very famous documentary about fictitious medieval England. When Tyrion, who is a very small man, is accused of murder. He didn't commit murder, he can't defend himself, and he hires a champion to defend him."
Likening Trump and his army of hatemongers to Tyrion Lannister is just absolute garbage. As completely fucked up as Tyrion was throughout the series, he had one thing that Trump and his hatemongers don't have: he had an ounce of a soul. Tyrion redeemed himself time and time again. You can't say the same for Trump and his supporters. Giuliani told the reporter that his "trial by combat" speech referred to a trial between machines, voting machines to be exact. He added that his "trial by combat" speech did not help incite the riot. "It incited no violent response from the crowd. None. The crowd didn't jump up saying, 'Lock him up, throw him to jail, go to hell.' I've had speeches where people jump up and say, 'lock him up.' It was not an emotional — it was not an emotion-inspiring part of the speech." That speech didn't generate a violent response from the crowd? Huh. So, 6 people didn't die during the Capital riot, and the Capital building wasn't violently broken into and ransacked? Interesting. Rudy Giuliani, you are a fucking joke. I can see why people are scrambling to disbar you from the NY State Bar. You completely aided those extremists to cause destruction to our Capital. You incited that crowd to spit in the very face of our democracy. Not only should you be disbarred and jailed, you should be kicked out of the country. You are a traitor.
