Despite Covid keeping everyone grounded for the better part of this year, Sturgis Motorcycle rally still took place. Over 360,000 people went to the beloved event. Many bands and artists performed at the rally, 90s sensation Smash Mouth being one of them.
Smash Mouth was in the press a lot at the beginning of August, but it wasn't for their amazing music. It was their blatant disregard for the seriousness of Covid-19. Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell yelled to the crowd "Now we're all here together tonight...Fuck that Covid shit." Now the once beloved band is receiving a sh*t ton of hate mail, which has increased after an outbreak of covid affected 200 people in 10 states (the numbers are climbing). Smash Mouth shared one piece of hate mail they received, which included a broken CD of theirs. The letter was pretty graphic, calling the band members "motherfuckers." Former fans dragged the band in their Instagram comments section, saying that the band "let all your fans who care about human life down." Once again, Smash Mouth is not the "sharpest tool in the shed." Smash Mouth is about to crash like Lit did (I saw Lit in concert years ago, and they were BEGGING for people to cheer for them. When they didn't get it, they ridiculed the crowd). Oh how the mighty have fallen!
