âSince her conservatorship ended last year, Britney Spears has been voicing her anger and pain about what she has been through. While fans have rallied with her and supported her through everything, lately Britney has started to lose a lot of her fanbase.
People began distancing themselves from Britney when she started dragging her sons on social media. Last night, Britney posted one of the most disgusting attacks that we've seen from her yet. Spears, 40, posted a meme on Instagram that said
"I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people." It was a quote from late actor/comedian Rodney Dangerfield.
Spears captioned the post "I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children ⦠my dancers ⦠I mean if I had Christina Aguileraâs dancers I would have looked extremely small ððð⦠I mean why not talk about it ?? Donât you think my confidence would have been a bit better if I could choose where I lived, ate, whom I called on the phone, dated and who was on stage with me !!! Itâs hard sometimes now I see how much of my womanhood was stripped away at that time and every person sat back and didnât say a thing !!! Anyways ⦠I will be here talking bout things people NEVER talked about ððð !!!"
âWhile the post received 216,100 likes, the comment section is FULL of comments asking Britney to take the post down and apologize. Even her most die-hard fans are disgusted by Britney's horrendous attack on Aguilera and her dancers. Fellow celebrities have also called her out on her body-shaming.
Christina Aguilera DID see the post and immediately unfollowed Britney. She has not publicly addressed Britney's post, and probably won't since she's a grownup.
(Former) fans are calling Britney "Toxic," "Canceled," "Jealous," and "a bully." She is also being called an attention-seeker. Many are saying she is perpetuating fatphobia.
I was a fan of Britney Spears since 1999. I was upset and felt that something was wrong when her conservatorship lasted so long. I supported the "Free Britney" movement. I cried tears of joy when her conservatorship ended. I regret everything now. I was hoping Britney would sort of take time away after her conservatorship ended so she could reset and rebuild her life. Nope. For the last year, she has done nothing but use social media as her "burn book." As a mother, I was disgusted when she began dragging her 2 sons, who are MINORS, on social media. If you have a disagreement with your children, don't bring it out on social media. Settle it behind closed doors. Does she think her boys will want her around NOW?! NOPE! Now she adds body-shaming to her repertoire. I've been all over the place in terms of weight. Body-shaming is a trigger for me. I've suffered eating disorders, and even today I have body image issues. When she posted that caption with that meme, I was DONE WITH BRITNEY SPEARS! She has gone way too far. As of right now, the post is still up, and she is trending on all social media platforms. Britney, you need to get some fucking help. I was a long-time fan of yours, I supported your movement. Now, I take back everything I said about you. You need to be back in your conservatorship (not with Jamie, but with someone else). You are shameful, toxic, and you have lost your fucking mind! You should be ashamed of yourself. You need to apologize to Christina Aguilera (she has done NOTHING wrong), her dancers (they have done NOTHING to deserve this), and your fans (the ones you have left). YOU. ARE. CANCELED.

I think Britney Spears should retire when her conservatorship is over. She deserves peace!7/27/2021
For years, the "Free Britney" movement has been warning us that something is not right with the pop superstar's conservatorship. No one listened. It only became apparent when Spears herself confirmed the abuse during a court hearing in June. It took the world by storm, and it's been the topic of conversation ever since.
Before we talk about present day, it's important to take a look at the past. Britney has been in the spotlight since she was a tween. She was on Star Search (I actually remember her performance. I was a closet fan of Star Search). She starred on "The New Mickey Mouse Club" with Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and more.
âWhen Britney got the job on the show, her father Jamie Spears, her mother Lynne Spears, and the rest of the family saw dollar signs. They used their daughter as a cash cow for years.
When Spears got her big break in the late 1990s, her family rode the tsunami wave of cash that she earned from her debut album (and albums thereafter). While becoming an overnight sensation may sound "fun," it wasn't. She was a constant target in the tabloids. She was ridiculed for her outfits, her performances, and her developing body.
Britney was 17 when her debut album was released. She was a child in the eyes of the law. That didn't stop MEN and WOMEN from commenting on her breasts, her curves, and everything else. People became obsessed with whether or not she was a virgin. Can you fucking IMAGINE having your sex life, your breasts, and the rest of your body, under a microscope when you're 16/17 years old? What the fuck?!
Britney Spears sat down for many scathing televised interviews, ridiculed for her body, her sex life, her performances, her outfits, etc. Some of these interviewers were WOMEN!
Not only did Britney receive misogyny from the public and from men in the media, she was getting the same misogyny from WOMEN! Even worse, her family did NOTHING to stop it! They were too busy counting their millions to give a flying fuck!
Years later, her sister Jamie Lynn Spears made the decision to fly on her big sister's coattails, using her sister's name to get her own show on Nickelodeon. Meanwhile, Britney Spears was spiraling. After the abuse and misogyny from the media, from the public, and the gaslighting from her loved ones, she was breaking. Britney was feeling trapped, and she wanted to be free. She shed her hair as a means to free herself from everyone. Everyone commented that she was mentally insane, drunk, on drugs, etc. Since 1992, she has been told what to do, what to wear, who to talk to, what to say, etc. She has never been free.
To add insult to injury, she was placed in the care of her father under a conservatorship 13 years ago.
Her kids were taken away from her for a period of time. She very seldom sees them to this day. Her father controls how often she sees them. If she doesn't do what she is told, she doesn't get to see her teen boys. These boys are being kept from her mother. Britney has been drugged with various medications, including Bipolar drug Lithium. Let me tell you something about Lithium. It is a very powerful drug, and if it isn't used the right way, it can be lethal. I have been on Lithium since 2015, and I have to drink lots of water and get my levels checked every 3 months. If I don't, I can get lithium poisoning, which can be fatal. Britney Spears will be 40 years old in December, and she has zero reproductive rights. Her father and others control her reproductive rights. She is not allowed to have more children. She isn't even allowed to marry her longtime boyfriend Sam! She has no control over the money SHE EARNED. She isn't allowed to get her nails done when she wants, her hair done, or anything else. Up until recently, she wasn't able to drive in her car by herself! Since Britney Spears broke her silence on what has been going on, she has been a powerhouse of strength on social media. Her Instagram has been chock full of strength, female empowerment, and hope. She has more life in her eyes. She is glowing. And she is baring her soul unapologetically.
âUnpopular opinion: When Britney is freed from her conservatorship, I am hoping and praying she retires. Don't get me wrong, I love Britney (been a fan since 1999). However, as a compassionate human being, I think she deserves to spend the second half of her life in peace. She needs to be away from her toxic loved ones, away from the spotlight, the media, etc. She needs to retreat to a Zen and peaceful place with her boys and live happily.
Britney, it's highly doubtful that you will ever see this. I just want to say that millions of people around the world love you. We are in your corner, and we are rooting for you. Your freedom is coming, Britney! <3

Britney Spears revealed during a court appearance that she has been FORCED to keep an IUD inside herself so she does not get pregnant. She said that those in control of her conservatorship are responsible for crushing her dream of getting married and having more children. "I was told, right now in the conservatorship, I'm not able to get married or have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself right now so I don't get pregnant." - Britney Spears She added: "I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things." She has been held captive by this bullshit conservatorship since 2008. Her father has had control of her estate since it started. Britney Spears has been the Queen of Pop since she hit the scene in the late 1990s. Every record that she has put out has been pure gold. Life for the Queen of Pop hasn't always been perfect. It's actually been a living hell. She has been scrutinized by the patriarchal society as a whole. Women who blindly follow the patriarchal society have added to Spears' grief by asking sexist and inane questions. It's no wonder she broke down in 2007 and shaved her head. If I were in her situation, I'd probably do the same thing. You just become so over the bullshit, that you need a release. You need to have control over something. You just need...something. What Spears did not need is her money-hungry father taking over her life. He doesn't give a damn about his daughter. He cares about her money. He always has. When she was born, he saw dollar signs. He saw a "cash cow." He became activated by gluttony when she rose to fame on The New Mickey Mouse Club. She was a star in the making, and her father salivated at the checks. Fast forward to present day, where Britney is now coming clean about what's really going on. In her pretty bizarre Instagram videos, she had originally proclaimed that she was in a good space. She said she was the happiest she's ever been. Today we learned that she lied. She told the court that she is unhappy and hasn't slept. She told the court she wants the conservatorship to end. I was so proud of her for finally standing up for herself. That is the Britney we all know and love. She is a bad ass. What really pissed me off was learning that Papa Spears has been controlling her reproductive system for well over a decade. Britney Spears is 39 years old. It is her body, and if she wants to take the IUD out and give her two sons a little brother or sister, she has every fucking right to do that. Mr. Spears needs to take his hands off her reproductive system. It's her body FFS! Shame on him! Britney, I am rooting for you! Stay strong. Don't let the patriarchal dictators scare you. You are the Queen of fucking Pop, dammit! Queens don't bow down to jesters and peasants! #BritneySpears #FreeBritney #reproductiverights #feminism #womensrights #instagram #samasghari
Can overweight people become anorexic? Yes. It's not just a thin person problem. This is the point that model/advocate Tess Holliday is trying to prove on social media, after revealing her battle with anorexia.
Tess Holliday, who is well-known for her body positivity presence on social media, has also felt the pressure of society to be thin. This has led her to her current battle against anorexia. On May 1st, Tess Holliday revealed that she is currently healing from an eating disorder (see post below)
Preach it, sista! My favorite part about her post is when she said: "When you equate weight loss with 'health' & place value & worth on someoneâs size, you are basically saying that we are more valuable now because we are smaller & perpetuating diet culture⦠& thatâs corny as hell."
Despite all the hard work that Tess Holliday, Lizzo, and other body positive advocates have done, society still equates "health" with being smaller. I personally know a lot of smaller people who would give their right arm to gain weight. They just can't, for a variety of reasons. Illnesses don't discriminate. Diseases don't discriminate. Cancer doesn't discriminate. It's all about your genetic makeup. Anyway, people got on Tess for revealing her battle with anorexia. Some that have suffered from anorexia have called her out, saying that "big women cannot get anorexia or bulimia." These haters flooded her social media to say that Holliday does not fit the stereotype of anorexia, since she isn't underweight. Others applauded her reveal, saying that she is strong, brave, and that Tess is loved.
Real Talk!
I want to make something very clear. I've been significantly overweight, and I've been a size 4. In high school, I was bigger and heavier than Tess Holliday. I, too, have suffered from disordered eating, mostly overeating.
There have been a few times, however, where I would only eat a few calories a day. In middle school, I tried anorexia in order to lose weight. There was a guy in my class that I really liked, and I wanted him to notice me in "that way." He made fun of my weight, so I thought if I got smaller fast, he would notice me. I didn't eat much for a few weeks. I even tried bulimia. Mind you, I outweighed my classmates by 100lbs. No one batted an eyelash when I didn't eat. They all thought I was dieting. I didn't fit the stereotype of someone who has anorexia.
Fast forward to age 35 when I was pregnant, I was deathly afraid of gaining a ton of weight. While I would eat heavily one day, there would be other days when I didn't eat much. I actually had lost weight during my second trimester (which is a BIG NO-NO).
âI was ordered to eat more. I complied, after my doctor and my friends expressed their concerns for me. While I only gained 40lbs during pregnancy, I hated the fact that I tipped the scales at 200lbs the day before I was induced.
I lost the 40lbs within 5 months, and lost an additional 25lbs by my son's 1st birthday. I thought I was happy in the 130s, but I wasn't. I wanted to get down to 119lbs, which would make me underweight. I didn't care, because I wanted to have that "revenge body" that diet culture kept perpetuating as the "ideal body."
Even as small as I was, I had my health problems. When I was heavy, I had health problems. Where I'm at now, which is 159lbs, I have health problems. It's all about genes, not your size. â
âFor those who criticize Tess Holliday for having anorexia, you might want to look up the definition of an eating disorder. Just because Tess isn't a size 00, it does not mean that she cannot battle an eating disorder. A lot of overweight people have been anorexic and/or bulimic while on their journey to lose weight. When someone is desperate to lose weight in order to impress someone, or to fit into society, they will go to great lengths to do so.
When it comes to society, we are not allowed to stand out. We are supposed to "fit in." When you don't, you have a target on your back. Some people don't want to stand out. Some want to fit in so badly with society, they'd do ANYTHING to fit in...even lose themselves in the process. Look at Khloe Kardashian. She looks like a completely different woman. She fell victim to the bullies of society and changed everything about herself. Sure, she has millions of dollars. Sure she has a great family, beautiful child, a community dick boyfriend, etc. Is she happy? My guess is she isn't genuinely happy. Tess exudes confidence on her social media posts. However, that doesn't mean she isn't listening to what society says about her. This is a prime example of the damage society causes. Eating disorders are NOT visible in any way. You can't point at someone and say they have an eating disorder. An example of this is Nicole Richie. Back in the 2000s, Richie had lost A TON of weight. Everyone said she had an eating disorder. Turns out, she was sick with an actual illness: hypoglycemia. This illness added in her inability to gain weight. A person's size does NOT matter when it comes to who suffers from what. Again, you can be big and anorexic. You can be regular size and anorexic. You can be small and anorexic. I wish Tess all the best in her recovery! You can watch her interview on GMA here:

Suzanne Somers has been a blonde bombshell since birth. She has been in every dudes spank bank since she graced the small screen on "Three's Company." Since her days on "Three's Company," she promoted the iconic Thighmaster, she continued acting, she overcame stage II breast cancer, and she has shared her opinions on aging. She once told cast members of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" that she plans on living to age 120.
If anyone can do it, it's her. She is currently 74 years old, and doesn't even look it. She uses alternative treatments, maintains a healthy diet, and a positive mind frame. She is so content in her own skin, she has no shame in being completely open and free. Recently, she remarked that she has sex with her husband 3 times before noon.
âOn Earth Day, Somers showed her appreciation for the Earth by being completely nude outside.
ââSurrounded by nature, this incredible free spirit looked right at home in a field of flowers, grass, rocks, and more. Her comments section were a combination of respect, ageism, and body-shaming. One person said that they love Suzanne Somers, but she was "too old to pose like this." One person questioned her level of classiness, and another said that she was "brave" to post such a strong photo. A few openly expressed their disgust at her naked body. Listen, posting that photo isn't brave. Living freely and openly is brave. The majority of humans live by societal standards. They follow the blueprint that society has put out. There are some of us who prefer to be free spirits. Suzanne Somers is a free spirit. She marches to the beat of her own drummer, she listens to her body, and she appreciates the beauty and complexity of Earth. In my opinion, the picture is stunning and beautiful. It's a work of art, and it shows how free she feels. She is not held back. She takes everything in and does not waste a single fucking second of her life. Suzanne Somers is a rare jewel, and I hope to God I'm half as cool as she is when I am 74!

Justine Bateman is rocking her 50s like a boss, and she is not here for your ageist comments.4/16/2021
File this under: Fuck society's beauty standards, I'm going to be a bad ass 'mama jama' who gives zero fucks!
'Family Ties' actress Justine Bateman told Glamour Magazine that she is still getting criticized for her "aging looks." People expect Bateman, 55, to be in full glam, hide all traces of aging, and be perfect. Justine Bateman is perfectly content wearing moisturizer and black eyeliner (me too, girl!). "Iâm like, âFuck it, I donât care, I like how it looks!' Some people even say, âIf she would just change her makeup, sheâd look a lot prettier,â but I donât care. Itâs cool-looking, so Iâm going to keep doing it." She talked about how she is turning a deaf ear to criticism and society's standards. "Put stuff out there that you want to do, because if it gets rejected, at least you know you were faithful to that work. But if you put it out there to do what you think people like, then you betrayed that piece of work. So why not try to become totally deaf to the criticism? Then you can do whatever you want."
Back in February, Bateman posted an Instagram picture that showed every wrinkle on her face, her crows feet, and various other features. She even pointed out where all her "imperfections" were located on her face.
The post was in reference to her book "Face: One Square Foot of Skin," which came out on April 6, 2021 (I will be purchasing it next paycheck). The book discusses the damaging attitude that society has toward women and aging, and how we need to take a look at WHY women are afraid of aging.
On top of releasing this book, Bateman has been hard at work promoting her new movie, Violet, which she directed. The movie is an official 2021 SXSW selection, and it stars Olivia Munn and Justin Theroux. In today's society, it's all about looking young. You aren't allowed to look old. I will even go a step further: you aren't allowed to get old at all. Look at legendary actresses in Hollywood. A lot of them don't even look like their age. In order to get work, you have to look young. There are actresses who are 40, and they are being offered grandmother roles, because they look "old." This actually happened to Carrie-Anne Moss the day after she turned 40. If you give birth over the age of 35, you are considered a geriatric mom (I was 35 when I had my son, and "geriatric mom" is ALL OVER my medical records). Chronological ageism needs to end. Physical ageism needs to end, and we need to tell society to eff its beauty standards. There is nothing wrong with aging gracefully. Honestly, aging gracefully in this society is empowering, and it's a big middle finger to archaic and patriarchal standards.
âIf you feel that you need to get work done, I'm not here to judge you. Like Justine Bateman, I'd like to know why getting older is such a fear of yours.
Justine Bateman, you are a strong bad ass woman, and I cannot wait to read your book! Thank you for keeping it real! <3 #MyHero

Happy International Women's day, everyone! I can't imagine a better day to talk about this amazing woman than today.
Jamie Otis first graced our screens when she competed for Ben Flajnik's heart on the 16th season of The Bachelor. She left in 7th place. A few years later, Otis is featured on "Married At First Sight." At first, Jamie is NOT A FAN of her groom, Doug Hehner. Weeks into the marriage, she begins to have feelings for him. I remember a clip from the show where she says softly, "I think I like him." It was literally one of the cutest things I've ever seen. They fell in love and they have been madly in love ever since. It hasn't been a 'happily ever after,' however. The couple has dealt with 2 miscarriages while trying to expand their family. They share a daughter and a son together. Since Jamie Otis is a television personality, as well as a registered nurse (thank you for what you do, by the way), she has that pressure to look perfect. Women especially have that pressure to look perfect, be in shape, and never be comfortable, because men treat us like trophies. We have to look our best at all times, or else we have no value. Even worse, we try to 'one-up' the women around us so that WE look better. It's maddening and gross behavior. After Jamie had her son last year, she didn't run to the gym, go on crash diets to lose the baby weight in record time. Instead, she embraced the strength and beauty of her body. Since Hendrix was born, she has been posting a series of Instagram pics that have been so beautiful and inspirational. In the one below, Jamie talked about the 5 things she would tell her younger self, if she had the ability to travel back in time.
She also posted this one:
Jamie has started a program called "Become Body Positive," and it's definitely a popular group. I'm actually on the waiting list for the program. While you're waiting, you are brought to the Instagram page for the program, and it has a ton of inspirational posts that will help you get started on your journey.
Jamie Otis is one of the strongest women on this planet. She took in her younger siblings when she was a young adult. She went from living in poverty, to becoming an influential public figure. This woman's heart is so huge, it expands past this galaxy. She is using her journey to inspire all of us to be proud of our bodies, and to love our bodies. â I actually wrote something up on one of her posts the other day, detailing my journey. I talked about my weight loss journey, overdoses, 2 spinal fusions, and having a baby. I talked about when I reached my lowest weight, and when I was a size 4. I thought all of my body image problems were going to disappear when I hit 138lbs. Nope! I felt more pressure to stay small. I was the heaviest girl in my high school, and to lose all that weight, I knew there were people from my childhood that were just waiting for me to gain everything back. I have gained 20lbs. Part of it wasn't intentional, and part of it was. I wanted to see if I can love myself without being at my smallest weight. I can. Do I want to lose weight? I guess. The most important thing for me right now is eating healthy so I have more energy. If I lose weight in the process, great. If I don't, I will still love myself regardless. Jamie, you are a gold star in this world. You are going to help so many women learn their worth, and see their beauty. Back in June of 2018, Kelly Marie Tran made the decision to step away from social media, and anything to do with online. In 2017, she was the victim of online bullying, harassment, racism, and misogyny. It all began when she was cast in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." The bullying picked up in intensity after the movie was released. She was the victim of racism on Twitter, she was relentlessly mocked for her weight, and someone actually re-wrote her bio on Wookieepedia to include racist and more vulgar comments. She left Instagram in 2018, but left behind 5 powerful words: "Afraid, but doing it anyway." A writer from website Salon stated that the bigotry Kelly Marie Tran endured came from privileged white men who were afraid of a strong female character. The writer wondered if Tran would have received as much backlash, had she stayed within Asian female stereotypes (in movies, Asian women have been portrayed as being seductive and submissive), and not played Rose Tico. The relentless bullying took a toll on Kelly Marie Tran's mental health. She found herself believing the hateful remarks made about her. Tran wrote about all of this in a NYT article called "Kelly Marie Tran: I Won't Be Marginalized by Online Harassment." "Their words reinforced a narrative I had heard my whole life: that I was 'other', that I didn't belong, that I wasn't good enough, simply because I wasn't like them. And that feeling, I realize now, was, and is, shame, a shame for the things that made me different, a shame for the culture from which I came from. You might know me as Kelly. I am the first woman of color to have a leading role in a Star Wars movie. I am the first Asian woman to appear on the cover of Vanity Fair. My real name is Loan. And I am just getting started." Fast forward to 2021, and Tran is speaking about how the bullying shaped who she is now. She has been in therapy since the bullying started in 2017, and she spoke to "Vulture" about her experience: "We can talk about the interaction between mental health and social media, but also mental health and this idea of fame and what it does to you. It is not normal. For me, that navigation is about how I protect myself in a way where I can continue to work in this world, and continue to lift the stories that I feel like the world needs to hear. It felt like I was just hearing the voice of my agents and my publicity team and all of these people telling me what to say and what to do and how to feel. And I realized I didn’t know how I felt anymore. And I didn’t remember why I was in this in the first place. Any time that happens, I have to close up shop and go away for a while and really interact in the real world — read books and journal and go on hikes and look at a tree and remind myself that there was a fire that burned inside of me before Star Wars, before any of this." She mentioned that she is "so much happier" without the internet. Her agents have been pushing her to return online. They say she is "forgoing brand partnerships." Kelly Marie Tran responded to them with: "I'm not here to sell flat-tummy teas to young girls." You tell em! I will never know the depths of what Kelly Marie Tran went through, but I've been the victim of online bullying as well. Recently, I had to delete my YouTube channel and suspend my Podcast because I had dozens of messages from people telling me I was fugly, I had a stuttering problem, and that I needed to kill myself. I wasn't saying anything bad on either platform.
I also dealt with low-key bullying on my personal social media profiles, from people I know offline. I was pretty overwhelmed, and I was thirsty for my own quiet and solitude. I no longer post on my personal social media accounts anymore. They are still active because they are attached to this website's social media profiles. Getting rid of my personal pages would mean getting rid of my website's profiles. It's a tough situation, but I'm making it work. Not having personal social media profiles is pretty nice. You get to work on yourself, read more, write more, do more art, spend time with nature, and just connect to the environment around you. I can feel Tran's energy when I read about her current life. It's an earthy energy, grounded, and incredibly strong. I love it! No matter what happens, and no matter how many roadblocks social media platforms try to enforce, bullying will exist (they always find ways to fly under the radar) What needs to be taught is tolerance, TRUE history of every culture (not the white-washed history), respect, and love. That starts with parents. I didn't have the best upbringing with my mom. She wasn't nice to me for the most part. The one thing she did 100% right, was expose me to various cultures, and teach me tolerance. That's a lesson I am currently passing onto the next generation. As for Kelly Marie Tran, she is the epitome of strength. People may think she "ran away" and she's "in hiding." She isn't. She ran to herself and her own happiness. She's a rockstar! I can't wait to see her new movie, "Raya and the Last Dragon." Stars from Buffy the Vampire Slayer band together against Joss Whedon's abuse, racism, and misogyny.2/11/2021
"So here's the part where you make a choice. What if you could have that power, now? In every generation, one Slayer is born, because a bunch of men who died thousands of years ago made up that rule. So I say we change the rule. I say my power... should be our power. From now on, every girl in the world who might be a Slayer, will be a Slayer. Every girl who could have the power, will have the power, can stand up, will stand up. Slayers... every one of us. Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?" -Buffy Summers
For years, we've been hearing about Joss Whedon's "big bad" behavior. Last year, he was racist and abusive toward a young actor named Ray Fisher. On Wednesday, we learned about more of Whedon's victims.
Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase on the show, revealed to the world that she was a victim of his abuse and misogyny. She wrote a heartbreaking statement about what she endured, and it is devastating. â charisma carpenter (@AllCharisma) February 10, 2021
First off, that asshole Joss Whedon blatantly asked Charisma if she was going to "keep her baby," which is something you never fucking ask! How disgusting! He also called her "fat" throughout the entire pregnancy. Joss refused to listen to her doctor's orders about shortening her work hours. The stress of everything caused her to have Braxton Hicks contractions at 6 months pregnant! Joss didn't give a shit. He even fired her after she had her baby! Her religious beliefs were disrespected, and she is still suffering the physical aftermath of his egregious behavior (she has a chronic condition because of the stress).
Charisma Carpenter wasn't the only victim. Ray Fisher endured horrific verbal abuse and racism from Joss Whedon. Ray Fisher acknowledged Charisma's story and said she was "courageous" for sharing her story, and we need to protect her.
âAmber Benson, who starred as Tara McClay on Buffy the Vampire Slayer also shared that she found the work environment with Joss to be toxic.
âMichelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy's kid sister Dawn on the show, recalls Joss Whedon not demonstrating appropriate behavior around her. Despite the fact that Trachtenberg was a veteran of TV and film at 15, she was still a very young girl.
Several cast members spoke out about what Charisma, Amber, Ray, and others went through. Sarah Michelle Geller had this to say about the abuse:
Michelle Trachtenberg reposted Geller's Instagram post, with her own caption:
Anthony Stewart Head, who played Rupert Giles, spoke to reporters in England about what had happened. Anthony Head had no idea that it was going on, and he feels "gutted" upon learning of it now.
"I've been up most of the night just running through my memories, thinking, 'What did I miss? Because, and this is not a man saying: 'I didn't see it, so it didn't happen.' I am gutted, seriously gutted, because one of my memories, my fondest memory [from Buffy] is the fact it was so empowering. Not just in the words in the script, but the family feel of the show. I am really sad that if people went through these experiences â I was sort of like a father figure â I would hope that someone would come to me and say, 'I'm struggling, I've just had a horrible conversation.' Admittedly, the first post by Charisma was when she was working on Angel, and I was long gone. But there are other posts subsequently that are making me think, 'How on earth did I not know this was going on?'"
The news has sent shockwaves throughout Buffyverse. We all knew Joss Whedon had a reputation for being a bit of a dick to people, but I had no fucking idea it was this bad.
I have been a Buffy and Angel superfan since Buffy debuted in 1997. I was a teenager, and I was inspired by the show's female empowerment message. I was enamored with the show. I even wrote fan fiction about the show for years. I was that big of a fan (I even gave Faith a spin-off series). To hear what some of my favorite actors and actresses went through with Joss, it seriously shatters my soul. Joss, you are a piece of shit. You are a gutless, racist, misogynistic, abusive coward. Shame on you! As for Amber, Ray, Charisma, and everyone else, my heart is with you. Sending a lifetime supply of hugs to all of you! Rebel girl, Rebel girl, you are the queen of my world!! Last year, Rebel Wilson embarked on her Year of Health. She was determined to take control of her life, and she did. Wilson lost an incredible 60lbs in less than a year, and she is the epitome of inner and outer strength. Rebel Wilson embarked on this journey to become healthier, and she did. While she looks good at any size, she has noticed people are now treating her differently. "What’s been interesting is how people treat you. Sometimes being bigger, people didn’t necessarily look twice at you. Now that I’m in good shape, people offer to carry my groceries to the car and hold doors open for [me]." She reached out to her fans and asked them if they experienced something similar, and many shared their experiences. I happened to be one of those who responded. At my heaviest, I was 250/260ish pounds. I started gaining weight at 8 years old, and I reached the mid-200s when I was 16. Food was my everything, so I ate when I was happy, I ate when I was mad, and I ate when I was depressed. I would polish off 2 pounds of pasta, finish a box of Funny Bones for dessert, and down a 2 liter bottle of coke every night. I didn't workout, and I hated all veggies except corn. No one did nice things for me, such as hold the door open for me. When I got smaller, that's when I started getting attention. When I reached 138lbs, I got the most attention. The funniest fucking thing about my journey, the asshat guys that made fun of me in HS, suddenly wanted to chat me up. Even if I thought some of these dudes aged well through the years, I don't have any room in my life for fake ass people. I have people in my life who have treated me the same for 38 years. They've seen all of my good times, all of my bad times, and have never treated me differently. THOSE are the people I accept in my life.
Just because someone has slimmed down to a smaller honey, it doesn't make them more appealing than how they looked before. They may look different on the outside, but they are the same bad ass bitch on the inside. Be a decent and gentle human being to people, regardless of what size they are. Enough of the double standards! |
