![]() On this day 99 years ago, a global treasure was born. Her bright smile, adorable dimples, and her immeasurable talent took the world by storm. This incredible woman has the longest television career, which spans over 80 years (she started her career in 1939, 3 months after she graduated high school)!
White is a pioneer of the television industry, being one of the first women to have control in front of the camera and behind the scenes (the entertainment industry was, and still is, a male dominated industry). Betty White has been recognized as the first woman to produce a sitcom ("Life with Elizabeth," which aired in the 1950s). In the 1970s, she was a part of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." In the 1980s, she reached next level legendary status with her role as lovable Rose Nyland on "The Golden Girls." Since "Golden Girls," White acted in many TV shows and movies. In 2010, she dominated TV once again, with her role as Elka on "Hot in Cleveland." Betty White was married 3 times in her life. She was married to Dick Barker in 1945, and then she married Lane Allen in 1947. They divorced in 1949. In 1963, White married her soulmate Allen Ludden. They stayed married until his death in 1981. White never remarried after his death. Larry King once asked White if she would ever remarry, and she replied: "Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?" I fucking love that! Betty White has received many awards and accolades during her incredible 80+ year career. She has also penned several books in her life. In 2011, Reuters dubbed White the most popular and most trusted celebrity among Americans, beating out Tom Hanks. Betty White is a treasure, an icon, the funniest woman on earth, and a living legend. At 99 years old, she is going strong, and nothing is stopping her. Betty White, you are a queen, I salute you, and I love you. I want to be you when I grow up! Happy birthday, Betty White! Enjoy your hot dogs and vodka! <3 #BettyWhite #HappyBirthdayBettyWhite #TheGoldenGirls #RoseNyland #HotinCleveland #LifeWithElizabeth
