I think Britney Spears should retire when her conservatorship is over. She deserves peace!7/27/2021
For years, the "Free Britney" movement has been warning us that something is not right with the pop superstar's conservatorship. No one listened. It only became apparent when Spears herself confirmed the abuse during a court hearing in June. It took the world by storm, and it's been the topic of conversation ever since.
Before we talk about present day, it's important to take a look at the past. Britney has been in the spotlight since she was a tween. She was on Star Search (I actually remember her performance. I was a closet fan of Star Search). She starred on "The New Mickey Mouse Club" with Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and more.
âWhen Britney got the job on the show, her father Jamie Spears, her mother Lynne Spears, and the rest of the family saw dollar signs. They used their daughter as a cash cow for years.
When Spears got her big break in the late 1990s, her family rode the tsunami wave of cash that she earned from her debut album (and albums thereafter). While becoming an overnight sensation may sound "fun," it wasn't. She was a constant target in the tabloids. She was ridiculed for her outfits, her performances, and her developing body.
Britney was 17 when her debut album was released. She was a child in the eyes of the law. That didn't stop MEN and WOMEN from commenting on her breasts, her curves, and everything else. People became obsessed with whether or not she was a virgin. Can you fucking IMAGINE having your sex life, your breasts, and the rest of your body, under a microscope when you're 16/17 years old? What the fuck?!
Britney Spears sat down for many scathing televised interviews, ridiculed for her body, her sex life, her performances, her outfits, etc. Some of these interviewers were WOMEN!
Not only did Britney receive misogyny from the public and from men in the media, she was getting the same misogyny from WOMEN! Even worse, her family did NOTHING to stop it! They were too busy counting their millions to give a flying fuck!
Years later, her sister Jamie Lynn Spears made the decision to fly on her big sister's coattails, using her sister's name to get her own show on Nickelodeon. Meanwhile, Britney Spears was spiraling. After the abuse and misogyny from the media, from the public, and the gaslighting from her loved ones, she was breaking. Britney was feeling trapped, and she wanted to be free. She shed her hair as a means to free herself from everyone. Everyone commented that she was mentally insane, drunk, on drugs, etc. Since 1992, she has been told what to do, what to wear, who to talk to, what to say, etc. She has never been free.
To add insult to injury, she was placed in the care of her father under a conservatorship 13 years ago.
Her kids were taken away from her for a period of time. She very seldom sees them to this day. Her father controls how often she sees them. If she doesn't do what she is told, she doesn't get to see her teen boys. These boys are being kept from her mother. Britney has been drugged with various medications, including Bipolar drug Lithium. Let me tell you something about Lithium. It is a very powerful drug, and if it isn't used the right way, it can be lethal. I have been on Lithium since 2015, and I have to drink lots of water and get my levels checked every 3 months. If I don't, I can get lithium poisoning, which can be fatal. Britney Spears will be 40 years old in December, and she has zero reproductive rights. Her father and others control her reproductive rights. She is not allowed to have more children. She isn't even allowed to marry her longtime boyfriend Sam! She has no control over the money SHE EARNED. She isn't allowed to get her nails done when she wants, her hair done, or anything else. Up until recently, she wasn't able to drive in her car by herself! Since Britney Spears broke her silence on what has been going on, she has been a powerhouse of strength on social media. Her Instagram has been chock full of strength, female empowerment, and hope. She has more life in her eyes. She is glowing. And she is baring her soul unapologetically.
âUnpopular opinion: When Britney is freed from her conservatorship, I am hoping and praying she retires. Don't get me wrong, I love Britney (been a fan since 1999). However, as a compassionate human being, I think she deserves to spend the second half of her life in peace. She needs to be away from her toxic loved ones, away from the spotlight, the media, etc. She needs to retreat to a Zen and peaceful place with her boys and live happily.
Britney, it's highly doubtful that you will ever see this. I just want to say that millions of people around the world love you. We are in your corner, and we are rooting for you. Your freedom is coming, Britney! <3
