Straight up, I'm about to give you the low-down on the latest from the funnymen of Impractical Jokers. Their highly anticipated feature film dropped in theaters in early 2020 (pre-pandemic), and it did NOT disappoint.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Impractical Jokers, Impractical Jokers is made up of 4 life-long friends who compete in challenges in order to embarrass one another. They perform silly and outrageous stunts in front of unsuspecting crowds, and whomever loses the most challenges, is punished. The challenges on the show are unscripted and incredibly hilarious. Anyway, for the movie, the movie begins in 1992 with the guys getting together to see a Paula Abdul concert. They don't have enough tickets to see her, so they sneak in, posing as security guards. They create a ruckus, angering Paula Abdul. She gets pissed and vows her revenge. Fast forward 25 years later, the men are at Red Lobster and they spot Paula Abdul in the restaurant. Paula recognizes the men as the guys of Impractical Jokers and totally fangirls over them. She invites them to an exclusive party in Miami and has her assistant set it up. Her assistant hands lanyards to the guys. Unfortunately, there are only 3 for the 4 guys. The guys decide to make a road trip out of it. They perform their Impractical Joker show stunts on the way, and whomever loses the most challenges, has to sit out the party. After many challenges, and side stories, the guys make it to Miami. Murr was the loser so he was left to his own devices while the guys go to the party. After some time feeling sorry for himself, Murr decides to crash the party, wearing the security guard costume that he wore at the beginning of the movie. After Murr is reunited with the guys, Paula recognizes the guys from the 1990s party and gets pissed. She goes completely apesh*t on them. She tells the guys she runs Miami and she is going to make the guys her b*tch. Joe breaks the tension by performing in front of the party. Paula joins him on stage, and they put on an interesting show. The movie ends with the guys at the beach, Joey Fatone singing "Forever Your Girl" in the background. The men are gifted with an opportunity to fly on Abdul's private jet, but only 3 of the men can go. Murr lost again, and his punishment is to be taped to a stunt plane. Cue the credits Some highlights of the movie:
I am a huge fan of the show and have been for many years. I went into the movie as an unbiased reviewer. Was it the best movie I've ever seen? No. At certain points, the back story was a little dry. However, I do recommend it if you're looking for an overall funny movie. The challenges will make it worth your while. The movie is streaming on HBO MAX, as well as every season of the show.
