Before I begin, I spent 2-3 years in moderate to severe pain due to a spinal injury. The pain was so bad that even breathing hurt like hell. I tried Tylenol and Ibuprofen, and nothing worked. I did not know where to turn, and I did not know there were alternative pain relievers.
There are various alternatives to conventional pain relievers (like NSAIDs, acetaminophen, and opioids) that can be effective for managing pain. These alternatives include natural remedies, lifestyle changes, and non-pharmacological therapies. Here are some options: Natural Remedies and Supplements
Recently, I have decided to adopt a healthier lifestyle. I had gained a lot of weight since 2020 (60lbs to be exact), and my eating was out of control. With everyone around me trying to get healthier, it inspired me to start a weight loss journey. I had done one in 2018/2019 and I lost 70lbs. I made so many mistakes during that journey, including not eating nearly enough, not taking care of my skin as I lost weight, and not taking care of my joints. During that time, I didn't know there was something I could take to keep my skin and joints healthy as I lost weight. It wasn't until recently when I learned about collagen peptides. Collagen peptides, derived from animal connective tissues, have gained popularity as a dietary supplement for their numerous health benefits. Here are some key benefits of collagen peptides: Skin Health
The collagen peptides supplement I take is from Walgreens, and I have 2 scoops a day in water. Walgreens sells it for $19.99, but I got it on sale for $17.99. We all want to get healthier. There are so many diet trends out there, promising weight loss at a faster pace than regular diet and exercise. We have injections, gummies, fad diets, and more that we are gravitating to. One weight loss method that is getting a lot of attention is Intermittent Fasting. Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of fasting and eating. It doesn't prescribe specific foods to eat or avoid, but rather focuses on when you should eat. There are several popular methods of intermittent fasting, including:
It's important to note that intermittent fasting is not suitable for everyone, and some people may experience negative side effects such as hunger, fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. It's essential to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional before starting any fasting regimen, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Additionally, it's crucial to focus on nutrient-dense foods and stay hydrated during eating periods to support overall health and well-being.
I recently tried the 16:8 method, and while I did start losing weight fast, I suffered a few complications. I dealt with a lot of digestive issues, pain, and severe dehydration. I went through a few days of hell. I couldn't take care of myself, I had to call out of work, and I needed to have help with caring for my son. My fiancée was worried about me, as was everyone else. My stepmother sent me articles about complications from trying Intermittent Fasting. I decided that Intermittent Fasting is not for me. As I stated above, it isn't for everyone. Additionally, if you have underlying health issues like I do, it may cause more harm than good. I'm currently reevaluating my next move. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND talking to your doctor before beginning Intermittent Fasting. 2023 will go down as the year of Ozempic, and it looks like 2024 will not be any different. Many celebrities have injected themselves with semaglutide in order to shed pounds fast. It is in very high demand due to how effective it is. If you have been struggling to lose weight, you may think these weight loss injectables are an answered prayer from the weight loss gods. I hope your sitting down, because I'm about to burst your bubble. As someone who also battles her weight, I have wanted a weight loss drug to be created in order to lose weight fast. When I first heard about these injections, I was interested in getting one. I mean, I could get to my goal weight in only a few months with these shots? Sign me the fuck up! Here's where my inner researcher enters the chat and decides to look behind the curtain. Ozempic is a treatment for diabetics.
Online "pharmacies."
She was a "nurse" who went on and on about how Ozempic helped her co-worker lose 9lbs, and she's on her 2nd week. She also gushed about how it has helped her mom lose 40lbs in 2 months. If you ask any REAL doctor about weight loss, a healthy weight loss is 2lbs a week. When you lose it slowly, there is a high probably you will keep it off permanently. Anyway, so the "nurse" asked me about my journey with weight loss and what my goals were. I told her I wanted to lose 55lbs. She said I could easily do that in 2 and a half months on semaglutide Ozempic. She said it would cost just under $1,200. I told her I was on a tight budget. She said that they are partnered with Affirm and could do monthly installments. She sent me an email with a link to Affirm. She told me on the phone what to pick in the drop-down menus. When I signed onto my laptop, I followed her instructions. Here's where things get a bit suspicious. The program she wanted me to be on was not the price point she told me on the phone. It was much more! I scrolled through the menu and decided to experiment a bit. I chose the cheapest plan (it was a 7-week plan for $720). I went to the payment page, and I found EXACTLY what I knew I would find: hidden costs! This "nurse" failed to tell me about the $200 upfront cost, in addition to paying your first monthly installment! I exited out quickly, without providing any personal information, and I spent time googling this specific online "pharmacy." I clicked on their BBB page, and there was a complaint on there. *Surprise, surprise* The complaint was from a woman who paid $1,200 upfront for her Ozempic. She did everything she was supposed to do. Guess what she never received: HER OZEMPIC! There are other complaint boards with similar complaints on it. Most are saying "buyer beware," and "scam." Most online "pharmacies" aren't pharmacies!
As soon as you go off Ozempic, the weight comes back on!
I hate to sound like a broken record, but please do your research before consenting to anything. If you are struggling to lose weight, talk to your doctor about options. I would highly suggest that you ask your doctor about effective dieting and exercise, and not the injections. As I stated, these injections are in short supply, and diabetics need these medications. Just like I want to have long-term success in weight loss, I want you to have long-term success too. I also do not want to see anyone swindled by these fake “pharmacies.” Endomorphs are one of the three primary somatotypes (body types), with the other two being ectomorphs and mesomorphs. Endomorphs tend to have a higher percentage of body fat and may find it easier to gain weight and fat, particularly around the abdomen. Losing weight for an endomorph involves a combination of dietary changes, regular exercise, and lifestyle modifications. Here are some strategies that can help:
As an endomorph myself, it is extremely hard to lose weight and keep it off. Our bodies are different than the ectomorphs and mesomorphs of the world. We have to pay extra close attention to our food intake, and our workout regimen. I will say that doing interval training has proven effective for me in the past. After I had my son, I lost over 60lbs (I only gained 40 during pregnancy). I did a lot of interval training, and at the time, I thought my diet was on point. I was only able to keep my weight off for a year because my food intake was off. I wasn't eating enough. As I embark on this current weight loss journey, I am more focused on my calories and macros than ever before. It's hard, and you have to get creative. As long as you are within your macro limits, you will be fine. Let's wine for a bit, shall we? Red wine has been a subject of interest for its potential health benefits, and many studies have explored its positive effects on various aspects of health. It's important to note that while moderate red wine consumption may offer certain health advantages, excessive alcohol consumption can have adverse effects on health. Here are some potential health benefits associated with moderate red wine consumption:
Individual responses to alcohol can vary, and not everyone should incorporate red wine into their diet, especially those with certain medical conditions or medications that interact negatively with alcohol. If you decide to drink, drink in moderation. #redwine #wine #alcohol #foodie #drink #beverage #influencer #contentcreator #viral #trending
Lately I have been doing this thing where I'm trying to be healthier. With the health issues I already have, I want to make sure I don't add anymore to the mix. So, I've been researching how to get more nutrients into my body, and what ingredients can help with chronic pain and chronic fatigue. First off, I'm trying to get more water intake. We can all use more water in our lives. In fact, in order for the body to function properly, us women need to drink about 9 cups of water per day. Men need to drink around 13 cups of water per day. While I have been struggling to reach that 9-cup goal, I been searching for ways to make water more attractive to my taste buds, without taking in more calories. Here come the lemons! Lemons carry a wealth of health benefits:
What I do is drink 8 ounces of lemon water before every meal and light snack. Not only do you get the above health benefits, but it will also help you fill up and not over-snack during the day. I have also implemented drinking sparkling lemon and sparkling lime water into my fluid intake regime. Have I seen any results? Well, I've only been doing this for a week. I do feel less bloated, and I fill up on small amounts of food easily. That's a plus, right? Want to find out for yourself if lemon water can benefit you? Fill a glass of water, squeeze some lemon juice, drink, and enjoy! When we think of Splenda, we think of a harmless ingredient in diet soda, or the sweetener we use in coffee in lieu of sugar. We may think that we are doing good by using Splenda instead of sugar in our everyday foods and beverages.
Think again! A study that was published in the International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Health gave mice sucralose (which is the main ingredient in Splenda) on a daily basis throughout their life span. Soon after, they noticed that these mice developed various blood cancers, including leukemia. The Center for Science in the Public Interest took notice of these results, and formally recommended that consumers abstain from using Splenda. Before 2013, they had originally deemed the artificial sweetener safe. Worry not, folks. You can still add a bit of sweetness into your day. You can add agave, honey, and more natural sweeteners into your favorite foods and beverages. #Splenda #sweeteners #coffee #tea #food #health #beverages #morning #cooking I don't know about you, but I love basil. I love the way it brings flavor to pasta sauce, and I love the smell of fresh basil growing in the garden. While this amazing herb can ignite your taste buds and sense of smell, it also can boost your health in a wide variety of ways. The following are ways basil can enhance your life:
With summer just around the corner, it is time to think about UV protection. It is extremely important to always wear sunscreen when outside for prolonged periods of time (beaches, playing sports, BBQs, tailgating, etc). If you do end up sunburned, it is important to treat the burn right away. One treatment that has helped calm sunburns for generations is Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is a plant that hails from Africa. Inside the plant is a juice or gel that possesses soothing abilities. Not only that, it also contains an anti-bacterial quality. Aloe Vera has been used for centuries to help soothe burns. It is still used today in many hospital burn units. If you get a sunburn, consider using Aloe Vera to aid in soothing pain and redness. If you develop a severe sunburn, contact your doctor before using Aloe Vera. |
