Those who know me offline wouldn't peg me as a makeup person. I've always been pretty natural in my look. I didn't have a female figure in my life growing up, so I never had anyone show me the way to wear makeup. I was too scared to learn on my own, because I was already getting made fun of enough. I didn't want to add "clown" to my list of most popular pet names to call me (I'm anticipating some of you will hit me up and call me a clown anyway. Bring it. It'll be fun).
Anyways, in the last year I've undergone a lot of emotional, mental, and spiritual changes. I've re-embraced my artsy side, and I've realized that applying makeup is just another medium of artistry. I've heard a lot about IPSY, and I realized it would be cheaper to load up on makeup with their $13/mo subscription, rather than to buy everything on my own. Actually, I'm thinking about upgrading my subscription. I've pretty much loved everything they've sent me. When I decided to wear makeup full time, I watched a ton of YouTube tutorials. My favorite makeup artist YouTubers are Bailey Sarian and Jamie French. I watch these two religiously. I've learned about primer, bronzer, moisturizers, eyeshadow, eye makeup, and more. While I didn't want to have the same makeup technique as Bailey and Jamie, I wanted to take some of the basics and apply it to the look I wanted for myself. I am an earthy person, and I wanted to have a natural look. You're probably wondering: "Shauna, why would you wear makeup if you want to look natural?" It's simple. Parts of my face are redder than others (and I'm not talking cheekbones), and I wanted to even everything out (without covering my freckles up). My freckles are my favorite physical attribute. I picked makeup colors that matched my skin color, and enhanced it slightly. I love primers, I love liquid foundation, I love eyeliner, I love a good lipstick, and I love eyebrow pencils and mascara. I'm not brave enough to try the cool eye makeup that Jamie and Bailey rock. Maybe someday I will gather up the courage. Until then, I'm perfecting what I already utilize. IPSY is amazing. When you go to their site, they ask you a bunch of questions about skin tone, makeup habits, etc., in order to get to know you. Then they pair you with items that they believe would work well for you. I joined in January and they've never been wrong. They have a few different memberships: the $13/mo 5 trial-size items, the $25/mo full size items, and the $55/quarterly 7-8 full-size items. Regardless of where you buy your makeup (Ulta or your local CVS), you are spending more on makeup than you would with IPSY. You get the same products that are sold at Ulta, but at a much better price. In this blog, I will be showcasing the IPSY products that I love. I will also include my special link if I have inspired you to get your IPSY on. BTW- I am not an IPSY partner or influencer. I'm just a plain Jane blogger/artist who loves IPSY. That is all! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this blog. If you have any questions, you can drop me a line here. Stay cool and hydrated!
